Retail Business QuickBooks CleanupThe payout landed as one receipt
A made up Saturday, not a client. No shop name and no dollar from anyone's file.

Picture a payout that landed as one sales receipt. The tax rode inside income. The processor fee never posted. Later the same week a marketplace deposit reduced sales tax payable for tax the shop did not remit. The picture stops before any journal. Nothing here is a store we have served, and nothing here is a figure from a return.
Picture the kitchen table on the Monday after a long sale weekend. The notice, or just the bank app, is under the lamp. You feel the relief of a deposit that matches. We see a weekend of sales that can still land as one receipt. We are not claiming your counter. What we recognize is the order of the damage, the sale still mixed with the fee and the tax.
The owner opens the bank screen and feels the relief of a match. The deposit equals the statement. The match with the statement is real, and it still leaves the fee and the tax unwritten. The statement never promised to show the fee or the tax. It promised to show what arrived. The file still has to show what the drawer recorded, what the processor kept, and what the state is owed.
What the receipt hid

Income looks healthy because the tax is sitting in it. The fee is invisible, so margin looks healthier than the drawer. The payable looks low because a marketplace deposit was allowed to pay down tax the shop never collected. Three different comforts, and none of them survive a return.
The repair, when someone is ready for it, is not a speech about software. The receipt is reversed or split. The sale lands on the item that carries the good. The fee lands in expense. The tax lands on the payable. The marketplace deposit moves to its own clearing row so the shop payable only holds tax the shop will send. This page stops before a sample journal. The order is the point.
A count still belongs in the same month if the shelf was the thing that felt wrong. Goods expensed on arrival will not be on the asset row, and a receipt that swallowed tax will not explain a missing carton. The deposit and the shelf are different worries that often arrive in the same conversation.
Why we stop before a sample dollar

A dollar on this page would look like a result. It would not be one. Federal ceilings we will cite live on the disclosures page with the IRS instructions beside them. A Saturday like the one above is a shape, so an owner can see the order of the damage without borrowing a neighbor's numbers.
If your file looks like that shape, the form is enough. Bring the receipt, or say the receipt is missing and the deposit is all you have. We start from whichever of those is true.
The receipt you have
Tell us whether the tax is inside income, the fee is missing, or a marketplace line touched the payable.
You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
